                                           ATA 104  Level IV          Line Maintenance Avionics

 

Description
This course prepares an Airline or MRO Maintenance Technician to perform Avionic inspections, troubleshoot and rectify defects along with the certification of most avionic defects. The 40 Hour Avionic  Line Maintenance Training Course provides in depth technical information in all relevant Avionic ATA Chapters, including a detailed description of each Avionic system and its individual Components, Sensing Elements, along with Interfacing and “Valid Signals” with other Aircraft “USER” Systems.

 

Training Objectives

This course is designed to train the experienced  A&P Technician with the knowledge to perform Avionic troubleshooting with defect rectification, component BITE checks, Inspections, Line Maintenance Transit & Overnight Checks , along  with MRO Base Maintenance Tasks.

This course teaches the avionic systems knowledge and skills for the technician to communicate and debrief the crew of avionic faults and defects as well as building crew confidence in the technician's ability to understand and comprehend the fault or defect.

 

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, the Technician will
 

  • have an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the aircraft Avionic systems with their operative functions of the EFIS, IRU, WEU, ADF, VOR ,ILS, Autopilot, MCP, VHF & HF Communications, Transponder, FDR, CVR, PFD, ND, EICAS, Symbol Gen, Card Files, Wx Radar, IFE, Standby Power, Pitot / Static systems, ADC, TCAS, Altitude Alert, and SelCal.

  • be able to locate the above system principal components and access those components for R&R, Bite Checks, and Interchange.

  • be informed on the Removal & Replacement of the above system principal LRU components along with ESD training.

  • be able to perform operational and function checks on all of of the above system principal components.

  • Be able to interchange components for further in-flight evaluation and also for ground troubleshooting

  • Be able to recognize Normal, Non-Normal, Defect and Fault indications provided by Aircraft Instruments, Flight Deck displays, BITE Tests, and Alternate System switching.

  • Aircraft troubleshooting with reference to the FIM/FRM, application of the MEL and the CDL with reference to the release of the aircraft.
