Description
This course prepares an Airline or MRO Maintenance Technician to perform inspections, troubleshoot and rectify defects, along with the certification to Aircraft Type Return to Service issued by successfully completing this 80 hour course.
The 80 Hour Line & Base Training Course provides the in depth technical information in all relevant ATA Chapters with a detailed description of each system and its individual Major Components, Sensing Elements, Position Feedback Reporting, System Interfacing, along with processing and providing “Valid Signals” with other Aircraft “USER” Systems.
Training Objectives
This course is designed to train the experienced Technician with the knowledge to perform Line Maintenance as well as Base Maintenance Tasks along with Maintenance Completion Certification, Multiple Levels of Line Maintenance Transit & Overnight Checks, RII Inspections, including the authority for the Certificate of Release to Service. This course provides the technical knowledge & skill level training to make decisions with respect to fault diagnosis and defect / fault rectification utilizing the appropriate Maintenance Manuals, FIM, and Wiring Diagrams.
The goal of this training is to teach and instruct the technician how to methodically and meticulously troubleshoot aircraft & engine systems for on time performance, to minimize delays, and prevent cancellations. or when absolutely required possess the training and skills to competently cancel a flight
Course Objectives
This course satisfies ATA 104 Level III objectives. Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:

Safety precautions when near and around the aircraft in the hangars and at the gate.

General Log Book Procedures & Documents.

An in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the aircraft systems with their operative functions: Electrical AC & DC Generation, Pneumatics, Air Conditioning, Fuel System & Refuelling Procedures, Hydraulics, Flight Controls, Landing Gear, Ice/Rain,Fire Protection, APU and Engines, Oxygen, Water/Waste, Equipment/Furnishings, Lights, Doors and Windows, Cargo & Storage areas.

Locations of the above system principal components and access to those components.

Servicing of the above system principal components.

System interfacing with other components and other systems

Ground test procedures - operational and function checks of the above system principal components.

Recognition of Normal, Non-Normal, Defect and Fault indications provided by Aircraft Instruments, Flight Deck displays, CMC or ECAM. BITE Tests, as well as utilizing Alternate System switching.

Aircraft troubleshooting with reference to the FIM/FRM, application of the MEL and the CDL with reference to the release of the aircraft.

Avionics Systems- an introduction to the operation and understanding of Communications,, Glass Cockpit & Instruments,, ECAM or EICAS, EFIS, CMC & MAT, along with FDR , ELT & CVR functions.
